Saturated or contaminated underfloor insulation
Insulation can hold water against the underside of a floor and obstruct access to damp framing. Removal concerns material that cannot reasonably remain in the drying plan, based on its condition and exposure. An insulation type, age or brand should not be guessed from the neighborhood.
What to discuss before work
Explain whether batts are hanging, pooling water or visibly affected by growth. The work discussion should include containment, bagging, an exit route and disposal. Existing wiring, plumbing and ductwork require care; insulation removal does not authorize disturbing those systems.
Scope and next steps
After material is removed, exposed framing may still need drying or mold removal. Replacement insulation, repairs and encapsulation installation are separate work and are not advertised here. Suspected asbestos or another hazardous material requires a suitably qualified specialist before disturbance.
